Community Outreach

We believe in community. At SFB, part of our mission is to invest in the communities we serve. We do this by contributing both our time and talents.

Volunteering

At SFB, we feel strongly about giving back to the community. Full-time employees receive 16 paid hours and part-time employees receive 10 hours each year to volunteer at the community organizations of their choice.

We also strongly encourage our team members to become involved by serving on area nonprofit boards and committees. If you would be interested in having an SFB employee join your nonprofit board, please contact us.

Community Volunteer Day

Each year, we designate one federal holiday to volunteer in the community. While the bank is closed, our entire staff works together in teams to complete community service projects in each of our communities. Some past projects include painting rooms at a homeless shelter, sorting shelves at a food pantry and cleaning headstones at an area cemetery.

If you have a project idea for our next Community Volunteer Day, please contact us with your suggestion.

Donations

SFB also supports numerous nonprofit organizations and community events each year through sponsorships and donations. Last year alone, SFB donated to well over 100 different organizations.

SFB also initiates several campaigns to support those in need, including last year's Share the Warmth Campaign where we collected winter clothing items. SFB matched community donations with a monetary donation to a nonprofit in each of our communities.

Teach Kids to Save

As a community bank, we understand the importance of teaching kids to save at a young age. That’s why each year in April, we celebrate National Teach Kids to Save Month by visiting area classrooms and explaining the importance of saving money.

To help encourage our youngest customers to save, we also give away complimentary SFB piggy banks to anyone opening up a Youth Savings Account! Ask for one when you open an account!
